6 Summer Accessories Under $70

I've long been a fan of the British high street because of their affordable and savvy take on runway trends. Take, for example the recent proliferation of fruit prints (undoubtedly inspired by Stella McCartney, Prada, and Moschino) on everything from dresses and scarves to necklaces and shorts at stores such as Dorothy Perkins, Primark, and New Look. Or even the easy-to-wear color blocking trend

8 Statement Shoes for Spring 2011

Truth be told, there are so many pairs of shoes on my spring wish list that they deserve their own blog post. In the interest of space, I've selected eight of those shoes that I'm coveting. You may notice that all of my selections feature high heels or wedges; admittedly, I'm not one for practicality in my footwear choices. In my book, the higher the heel and platform, the better. Fortunately,

October Outlook

Although there is a small stack of unworn knits and cozy faux fur accessories in my room, the weather hasn't permitted many opportunities for wearing them. In anticipation of gloomy weather on the horizon, I've been eyeing a few things to help me make the transition into fall.1. Banded knuckle ring, Free People, $28 - It's got a Pamela Love feeling, infused with a touch of glamour and some

The Miss Selfridge Mix

Amongst the many online retail sites that I browse on a regular basis for style inspiration is British high street brand Miss Selfridge. Fortunately, I've experienced shopping in their brick and mortar stores during trips to England and Scotland, although it's not even necessary since they ship to the U.S. While I easily do more browsing than buying when it comes to my online activity, it's

Limited Edition Jeffrey Campbell x LF Collaboration

It's no secret that I'm a fan of Jeffrey Campbell's edgy and affordable footwear. Whether I'm wearing my leopard print Tick wedges, my studded Mel sandals, or my new Denmark clog boots, I always get compliments on them. While I'm still deciding which color to buy the Litas in (there are too many options), they've come out with a new collaboration with LF. A series of head-turning shoes was

Only in Denmark

When I glimpsed the Jeffrey Campbell fall lookbook earlier this month, two shoes became instant must-haves: the Lita platform and the Denmark sherpa bootie. I'm still deciding whether to buy the Lita in black or brown, but I wasted no time this morning in ordering the Denmark boot from Solestruck, which only comes in black. As a boot lover, I found this boot irresistible. It combines three fall

Five Picks for July - Under $100

Despite the fact that summer is in full swing (and along with that, a southern California heat wave and tons of summer sales), I'm looking forward to the influx of fall styles at several online retailers whose sites I visit often. Some of the things that appeal to me include: faux sheepskin jackets, lace-up ankle boots, anything with cut outs, and interesting textural details. Below are five

Ice Cream Colors

Few things inspire me more than a flip through one of my style scrapbooks. Back in 2000, I began collecting magazine clippings and pages of things I liked. Ten years and hundreds of magazines and catalogs later, I'm on my twelfth style scrapbook. I like to think of each scrapbook as a personal magazine of fashion, hair and makeup looks that I've compiled. Anything from a color story or a page out

Five Picks for July

images from forever21.com, nitrolicious.com, zara.com, asos.com, & shopbop.comA few things that are fending off mid-summer style boredom:1. The Glamourai's photoshoot for Forever 21 brand Twelve by Twelve. The styling is edgy, bold, and vibrant. I'm inspired by the array of prints and colors. My absolute favorite piece is the sheer maxi skirt, as it offers endless options for layering when the

On A Quest For Quontum

While browsing at LF in Santa Barbara this month, I came upon a few body con dresses unlike any I've seen before. Not for the faint at heart, they boasted short hemlines, slinky silhouettes, strategically placed mesh inserts, and bold neon strappy details reminiscent of swimwear. It was just enough detail to make them stand apart from the myriad bandage dresses that have reached their peak on the

Elevated Footwear

Some women dream about handbags, others buy copious amounts of makeup, and still others love jewelry. For me, it's always been (and always will be) about the shoes. Not only do shoes form the base of any outfit, they anchor you to the ground, and can instantly change both your height and your posture. Being a longtime fan of wedges and platforms because of their comfort and stability, I've

I Like to Bike

Like many other people, I gasped in delight when I first saw the photo of the floral-printed Liberty of London for Target bicycle. Unlike many other people, however, I ride a bike about 40 miles per week. It started in the summer of '08. Sick of my treadmill and elliptical workouts at home, I dusted off an old mountain bike and began riding several days per week on a trail. Soon I sold the

I Want Wedges

For the seemingly endless transitional time between winter and spring, I'm loving the idea of wedge ankle boots. While I'm not quite ready to bare my toes, I am ready to opt for shorter length boots in anticipation of spring. Infinitely more comfortable and practical than stiletto or block heels for days on my feet, wedge boots strike the perfect balance between chic and casual. I spotted

The February 2010 Wish List

Amidst following the endless online coverage of NY Fashion Week and taking care of all of my regular responsibilities, I've somehow managed to accrue another wish list of things I'm coveting for spring. Hand bracelets (or slave bracelets, as I call them) have finally made it to Forever 21's website, and I'm thrilled. My preference for platform wedges of five inches or more continues, as does my

Ardently Awaiting the Holidays

As invites to holiday events roll in, it's time to start thinking about what to wear. Instead of stressing about gift buying, travel plans, and cooking, I tend to place a strong emphasis on the wardrobe aspect of the season. As I often find myself overdressed for my regular evening excursions, I relish this time of year, not for the holidays themselves, but for the extra opportunities to get glam

Oh, Rodarte!

image scanned from People Style WatchHaving just received my copy of People Style Watch, I was excited to see their preview of the Rodarte for Target collection (on page 54) set to be released in just under three weeks. I'm currently weighing my anticipation for the romantic, ballerina-esque pieces against my disdain for being anywhere near a Target parking lot in the midst of the holiday

Dressed

With the holiday party season fast approaching, I've been on the lookout for fun, on-trend dresses. I've become slightly bored with the floral strapless, full-skirted styles that I stocked up on this summer. Right now I'm drawn to solid colors and anything with cutouts, multiple straps, and a sleek body-hugging silhouette. While browsing Bebe's website last night, I came upon these three

Jeffrey Campbell's Done It Again

Spotted in the window display at LF in Santa Barbara - these Ashish for Topshop look alike leopard print wedges. When I peeked inside at the label, I wasn't surprised to see the Jeffrey Campbell logo. They're a close match to the originals, with the exception of a less sculpted and more streamlined heel. Even though I already have the zebra pair, I'm still somewhat intrigued by the combination

The Blitzi Boot

In true Steve Madden form, they've created a version of the Isabel Marant studded ankle boot I recently spotted in Santa Barbara. It's called Blitzi, retails for $189.95, and comes in either black or brown suede. There are two minor differences from the originals, though. If you look closely, you'll see that unlike the originals, the heel is synthetic and slightly less cone-shaped. For a truly
