Four Tips For Fashion Bloggers
During my time at WWDMAGIC, I had the chance to attend a few blogger panels in the WWD and Teen Vogue lounges. Although I've been blogging for five years, there's always something to be learned from hearing other bloggers speak about their experiences. Here are four tips that I've gathered from the Teen Vogue "Art of the Start" panelists pictured above, and from my own experiences:

RetailCamp Wisdom for Bloggers - Part 2
As promised, I want to recap advice from the Fashion Law panel from Sunday's RetailCamp blogger conference. The panel, which was moderated by Macala Wright, included Staci Riordan and Uduak Oduok, who are both brilliant, specialize in fashion law, and are avid bloggers. Here are some of the tips that I found most helpful: You gain copyright protection the minute you write something, but you have

RetailCamp Wisdom for Bloggers - Part 1
On Sunday I attended the RetailCamp blogger conference with my blogging pal Sarah at Woodbury University in Burbank. It's hard to believe that in the four years since I started Fashion Trend Guide, this is the first blogging conference that I've attended. (Note to self - attend more seminars and conferences!) Overall, it was a motivational and helpful event with plenty of words of wisdom,

Take a Peek at H&M's Spring 2011 Trends
I always enjoy watching the H&M styling videos that Barracuda Film & TV sends me, in which they preview next season's trends, discuss design inspiration, and give us a fun peek at what will be in H&M stores soon. In the first video, ex-model, stylist, and blogger Hanneli Mustaparta styles a model in four trendy spring/summer looks, and in the second video, Ann-Sofie Johansson (Head of Design at H

10 Things I Wish I Knew When I Was Younger
Sometimes an idea for a blog post will pop into my head at the most inconvenient time, such as when there's nowhere for me to jot my ideas down. This morning, while in the shower, I reflected back on what I've learned about health, beauty, blogging, and life in the past fifteen years. Hence, the idea for this post about ten things I wish I knew when I was younger. I had to learn these lessons the

Fall Style at H&M
Barracuda Film & TV sent over these two videos featuring fall trends at H&M. So what's in store for fall? This autumn we'll see the "Casual Chic" look, with plenty of accessories and influences from the late '70s, early '80s, and even a little bit of the '90s. There is a wide variety of inspiration, ranging from the tailored style with uniform details, trench coats and parkas, to a more romantic

Up In The Air
This past weekend I attended an air show, complete with plenty of stunts that left me gasping in admiration and awe. Having spent the good part of a day wandering around, chatting with pilots, inspecting aircraft, munching on junk food, and enjoying the mild weather, I learned a few things:1. Always wear ear plugs or headphones while attending an air show. It gets loud - think major roaring and

Is It Fall Yet?
With the recent acquisition of about a dozen fashion magazines, I've begun to inundate my brain with images of fall trends. A few are appealing to me: animal prints, shearling trim, cozy knits, camel coats, lace-up ankle boots, etc. On the other hand, I'm not yet warming up to the idea of minimalism, kitten heels, loafers, capes, and ultra feminine 1950s silhouettes. Since fashion moves so

Five Beauty Products I Can't Live Without
Confession - although I would classify by hair and makeup looks as veering on the tousled/natural side, I use a ton of beauty products. Call me high maintenance, I'm guilty as charged. I use a lot of products to mousturize, prep my skin, and cleanse. Going through my bathroom for a bit of cleaning, I realized that there are five products I just can't live without. 1. Aveeno Positively Smooth

Socks Rock
Before socks with sandals showed up on the runways of Marni, Hermès, and Burberry, I was a fan of the trend. Admittedly, it's not an easy one to pull off, but when done the right way, it adds girlish charm to your footwear. Besides, there are a handful of benefits to wearing socks with sandals:1. Wearing socks is the ideal solution when you haven't updated your pedicure. Got chipped polish,

Five Fresh Picks for Spring 2010
Now that spring is officially here, I'm stowing away my heavy jackets, stocking up on sunblock, and finding inspiration in everything from florals, utilitarian details, sky high wedges, and patchwork denim (the answer to last season's ripped and distressed denim). With more hours of daylight to enjoy, I'll be searching for fun incarnations of straw hats, sleeveless tops, and lace up sandals.

Why I Don't Read Shape or Self
Once upon a time, when I first began to incorporate exercise into my life, I subscribed to Shape magazine. With my newfound interest in fitness tips and exercise ideas, I initially found the magazine to be informative and helpful. After a few months, however, my opinions of magazines such as Shape and Self began to change. It seemed as though the majority of the content was geared towards advice

Five Trends For Spring 2010
The first trend, which I'm calling Denim Revival, involves everything from chambray shirts and printed denim (such as polka dots or floral printed denim) to mixing classic denim jackets with jeans. In terms of washes and silhouettes, distressed denim will be strong, as will be styles that are cropped and rolled at the hem.Carrying over from the past few seasons, lace will continue to make strong

Nighttime Dressing
I'm no party animal, but I've spent my fair share of time out on the town at nightclubs, lounges, parties, and the like. As a teenager, I definitely made my share of fashion mistakes, and now that I'm much older, and in better shape, I have a stronger understanding of how to dress to flatter my body and to feel confident for nighttime. Gone are the days when dressing up for me meant designer

Trendspotting Tips
I received an email from a reader seeking advice about how to succeed at fashion trendspotting, thus the idea for this post was born. For those who don't know, I have experience working as a trendspotter and fashion trend forecaster. Since my days as a burgeoning fashion trend forecasting intern, I've had a passion for watching trends develop. What I am fortunate enough to do involves all of

Betting On Buffalo
In order to maintain some sense of order in my closet, it often becomes necessary for me to revise the contents. This often means sifting through piles of clothing and sending unwanted items off to local charities. Fortunately for me, I now have another option which is more financially rewarding. Buffalo Exchange is not far away, and frequent visits to sell my unwanted apparel have been

In With the New Year
In my recent quest for the ideal New Year's Eve outfit, I've persistently browsed the new arrivals on Forever 21's website almost daily for party-appropriate pieces. I view the last day of the year as the perfect opportunity to be bold with prints, texture, accessories, and makeup. Not sure what to wear, but want to make a statement? I'm undecided as to what I'll be wearing, but I'm inspired by
