Remembering TIFF

We promised there would be more pictures, and now they are finally here (if you need a refresher of this amazing night click HERE!). Fashion Crimes was the official clothing sponsor of the Art of Sound TIFF reception, dressing all of the beautiful ladies of WIFT.

Hotness overload! All the dresses you see above are from the one and only Fashion Crimes. From left; a Hepbourne dress in stretch python fabric, a fern bee Jezebel Tivoli, a gold lace Demure Sleeve dress, the Jezebel Micro Mini in amazing claw sequin fabric, a black satin Audrey Sheath, a black velvet Knotty dress, an Oscar dress in black taffeta, a metallic floral print strapless dress (it has pockets!!), and finally a black Dream Girl dress. Phew! That's a whole lot of pretty in a row, and also note that all the accessories shown are from Fashion Crimes.

Here we are with the babes of Magneta Lane; Fashion Crimes friends who make awesome music (and if you haven't heard their sound, you simply must. Click HERE for a taste!). From left; Tiffany in a black Tivoli Gown paired with a baroque Waist Cincher, myself (Melissa) in a black sequin Tied Up Mini, Kat rocking a jet sequin Demure Sleeve dress, Nadia (who gets my vote for the cutest drummer in the history of rock and roll) in the Madonna dress, the incredibly stylish Kevin (loving that fedora!), lead singer Lexi looking like a babe in a sheer sleeve tunic style dress (which we like to call the Stevie Nicks dress, and is also available in beige), and the always beautiful French who is the bass player for Magneta Lane.

One last shot of the Fashion Crimes management team! Thanks once again to WIFT for having us. It's a tough job, but somebody's got to do it!

DJ Rashida Starting New Trends with Fashion Crimes

Hello "Fashion Criminals," I hope you're keeping yourself snug in this crazy cold weather we're experiencing, but if you're NOT, here's a bright light that will hopefully bring some warmth into your day and inspire you to step outside the box. We at Fashion Crimes LOVE people who take chances with their fashion ensembles and HAD to show you this impromptu photo shoot we did with none other then one of the BIGGEST DJ's on the planet DJ RASHIDA, who's currently on tour with Prince (catch them performing at the ACC in Toronto November 25 and 26).

We love any woman that rocks horizontal stripes and if you think you can walk out of here resisting the temptation to purchase something, YOU'RE WRONG!!! We have something to compliment any woman's outfit. Here she's rocking a turban with one of Fashion Crimes' amber beaded flower pin that doubles up as a brooch. Her AMAZING blue driving gloves can be found at our store in black, red and white. To tie the whole look together, we have her rocking our Eartha Kitt sunglasses and colourful bangles. We just think this whole look is seductive, edgy and SCREAMS "I'm an individual."

Not only did this rockstar walk out with accessories, she also grabbed an ivory 6-way dress (pictured above.) Hopefully, the next time she's spinning for her A-list celebrity clients such as Jay Z, Kimora Lee Simmons, Michael Jordan, and Jada Pinkett Smith or walking the red carpet for an award show, she'll put her own spin on this fabulous dress that EVERY woman MUST own!!!

P.S....Prince's personal assistant also walked out with the hair brooch and a blue 6-way dress.

Celebrity Human Race Fundraiser 2011

Back in September, Musik nightclub held the celebrity draft for the Human Race fundraiser, where teams picked their favourite star to join them on a scavenger hunt across the city to raise money for the North York General Hospital Foundation. The night was filled with amazing food, music (including a performance by JRDN), and head turning fashion, so naturally Fashion Crimes was present.

From left; Canadian R&B/hip-hop artist Jordan Croucher (aka, JRDN), Cha Cha wearing a Demure Sleeve dress in tulip print silk, Pam Chorley in a cafe passemeterie Demure Sleeve dress, and Manny, JRDN's manager.

Kat is sitting with Pam in a jet sequin Demure Sleeve dress, a gold plated Brooklyn Bridge ring, and beautiful orange feather hair extensions. Of course, all the accessories you see on Pam is available at Fashion Crimes as well.

Here I am (Melissa) sandwiched between two of my favourite gals wearing one of my newest dresses from the Fashion Crimes collection; the Jezebel Wiggle in stripe suiting fabric. It was an incredible night, and so much money was raised for such a great cause!

Canadian singer/songwriter (and Fashion Crimes friend) Kirsten Jones was nominated for Roots Artist of the Year for her album The Mad Mile at the 2011 Canadian Country Music Awards, which was easily well deserved. We had the joy of styling the beautiful songstress for the prestigious event, and by looking at the photos it was a job well done!

Kirsten is pictured above in a Jezebel Tivoli dress in black and red rose embroidered silk. She is wearing a black rose belt, with a black rhinestone encrusted bracelet. Below, you see her in a seeing spots Holly Boat dress, coupled with a red rosette belt (you know how we love that pop of red!) and black cocktail ring. Sneak Peek of Lynzie Kent's New Music Video!

Look out for Fashion Crimes attire in the new music video from Canadian singer/songwriter Lynzie Kent. The song is called "Whoop Dee Do" from the album Something Wild, and the video will be released very very soon! In the meantime, here's a little teaser; I gotta say Lynzie has got me green with envy!

The beautiful song bird is pictured in a Jezebel Tivoli dress in celery dupioni paired with a white crinoline (our crini's also are available in red, pink, and black). If these fantastic shots by Bree Wasylenko are any indicator (and I think they are), this video's cute factor is through the roof!

Destined to be a Star!

Upon a visit to Fashion Crimes with his mom Jackie, little Reid made no hesitation in bolting directly for a bright fuchsia sequin bolero hanging in the children's section and demanded it be put on him. We all feel in love with this little man as he rocked the sparkly shrug; he was so excited it was difficult to get a clear photograph taken of him (so I went ahead and included all 3 pictures). This moment reminded me of the numerous times men have entered our store with the question "why isn't there a store like this for men?", and seeing Reid unapologetically sporting the flashy fashion piece, I immediately wanted to commemorate some of the talented male figures who are not afraid to step outside the neutral colour palette.

The Glam rock era was a terrific time for men to explore their more colourful side. Figures like Adam Ant and David Bowie (pictured) used both their music and personal style as art to express themselves, while never compromising their values and beliefs in the name of public opinion. Many others followed suit, while keeping their true selves in check. Whether it's the men of rock legends KISS, or the ever eccentric David Lee Roth (pictured), the amount of pink and glitter in an outfit never defined them, although it definitely helped us all to never forget them! And how can I write about men and their sparkles without mentioning my personal fave: Asano Tadanobu (pictured) in Ichi the Killer (a film definitely not for those with a weak stomach!), playing a deranged man in the pursuit of revenge while wearing shimmery purple velvet suits covered in fabulous sequins and embroidery. Amazing! You guys rock, but our little Reid outshines all of you; and mark my words, he will be a big bright shining star!!

Here, Reid has everyone's attention as his proud mother glows with delight!

So guys what are you afraid of? Drop into Fashion Crimes, throw on a hot pink feather boa, add some rhinestones, and show us your muscles!!

A Little Bit Country, A Little Bit Rock 'n' Roll, And A Whole Lot of Fabulous!

Jacelyn Holmes, Canadian Singer/Songwriter, received two nominations this year for Best Adult Contemporary Artist and Music Video of the Year at the 2011 Niagra Music Awards. Naturally, such a strong, inspiring woman would not need just any outfit for such a prestigious event, so Fashion Crimes stepped in to help. The end result? Jacelyn looked absolutely stunning (don't just take my word for it, take a peek at the fantastic photography of Lindsay Altoft and see for yourself) and she went home with the award for Best Adult Contemporary Artist! Yay, Jacelyn! Congratulations, the Fashion Crimes team are delighted!!

Jacelyn is pictured above wearing a black lace Drew dress, accessorized with a red feather fascinator. How can you not love this picture?

For Jacelyn's musical performance, she choose an adorable Bambi print chiffon Gretel dress, paired with an electric blue dupioni shrug from Fashion Crimes.
