Fall Flea Market Finds

Flea markets have always been a source of inspiration for me, especially since I never know what I may find while browsing.  I thoroughly enjoy meandering through the stalls, uncovering hidden gems, and chatting with friendly vendors. Inspiration may come in the form of colorful bikes, vintage perfume bottles, holiday decorations, or luxurious coats from decades past.  Even if I leave

Giambattista Valli at Macy's

I finally had an opportunity to browse the Giambattista Valli for Impulse collection at Macy's. Full of ruffles, bold red hues, and leopard prints, it was exactly the kind of clothing that I dream of filling my closet with. Although I didn't try anything on, my favorite piece by far was the frilly red skirt in the second photo. Everything appeared to be well tailored with luxe details, rich

The Style Tour

This weekend I had the chance to combine several activities that I love: shopping, styling, and chatting about personal style and trends with fashion experts. As part of the Westfield Style Tour, I had a complimentary consultation at the shopping center with a Style for Hire stylist, who helped me to pick out an outfit based upon my lifestyle, body type, and trend preferences. What better way to

Jennifer Lopez for Kohl's Review

Content © 2011 http://fashiontrendguide.blogspot.com. All rights reserved.I spent some time browsing the new Jennifer Lopez Collection at Kohl's last Thursday. My shopping strategy was to try on the apparel, handbags, and perhaps some shoes; I wasn't particularly interested in the home goods or jewelry. As I inspected the clothing, I noticed a signature Jennifer Lopez-inspired neutral and muted

Shopping at the Ventura Flea Market

Today must have been my lucky day, since I not only found the exact type of kimono I was looking for at the Ventura Flea Market, but I also managed to avoid the unusually rainy weather that began shortly after I left. The vendor and shopper turnout was better than usual, and oddly enough, although the Ventura Flea Market only takes place 6 times per year, it has rained on the last three.

Shopping at the Greige Market Pop-Up

I joined forces with Sarah once again to attend the opening night party for the Greige Market Pop-Up shop on La Brea in L.A. We sipped coconut water and browsed gorgeous printed dresses by BB Dakota, colorful designs by Custo Barcelona, super soft skinny denim, eco-friendly tops for men, unique bow ties by Tycoon Neckwear, tees by KRMA, jeans by Them denim, printed maxi dresses by Manoush, and

Another Visit to the Ventura Flea Market

Despite a little bit of rain and wind, I paid a visit to the Ventura Flea Market in search of vintage goodies. Instead of the usual turnout where parking is hard to find and vendors fill the space, there was a notable absence of sellers (and buyers) due to the less than ideal weather conditions. Since I'm not one to let a few raindrops get in the way of a day of shopping, I continued to browse

Rose Bowling

In an unusually busy weekend that involved watching Kathy Griffin live, celebrating my cousin's birthday, and taking home a new road bike, I somehow managed to get to Pasadena for the monthly Rose Bowl flea market. Shortly after arriving, I lost count of the fur jackets, cutoff Levi's, faux LV bags, vintage cowboy boots, antique chandeliers, and varsity jackets. Sometime between my last Rose Bowl

Seoul Searching

The lovely folks at AtSeoul contacted me to see if I'd like to feature some of their products. While this is nothing unusual, I clicked on over to have a look at their merchandise, and lo and behold, it was actually a good match for both my taste and budget. (Trust me, it doesn't happen very often, but when it does, it's because I want the store and the products to be a good match for Fashion

Love for Lanvin

Call me crazy, I'm guilty as charged. You see, on Friday night, I decided to sacrifice a night of sleep in the name of fashion, namely Lanvin ♥ H&M. (Only for your floral frocks, sketched tees, and leopard pumps, Alber!) After seeing the increasing amount of listings and inflated prices for Lanvin ♥ H&M on eBay, I've confirmed that it was well worth it to wait in line and shop the collection

Sonia Rykiel for H&M, Anyone?

I completely forgot to post these photos of the Sonia Rykiel for H&M collection that I took during my time in San Francisco last month. Given the popularity and instant sell-out status of the Cavalli and CdG for H&M collections, I was quite surprised to see the Rykiel merchandise still on the racks of the San Francisco flagship three days after its release on February 20. As much as I love a

High On Heels

In 2010 I won't be buying into the overhyped kitten heel/flats trend. Like many women who want to apear as tall and lean as possible, I need (and take) every inch I can get when it comes to my footwear. I won't be giving up my platforms and chunky wedge ankle boots anytime soon. For recent nights out on the town, I've repeatedly reached for my highest heels while getting dressed. These days my "

The In & Out of '09 Trends

While standing in an unusually long line at Wet Seal today, I had some time to make some observations and ponder fashion trends of 2009. With mild hopes of purchasing two pairs of floral leggings that I didn't need, I waited in line for a couple of minutes. During this time, I grew impatient, and entertained myself by slightly cringing as I watched a teenage shopper try on a fedora with a

Don't Bother Santa, He's Surfing

I'm not much of a holiday person, but this year, I decided to do something I've always wanted to do - construct and decorate a gingerbread house (using a kit). Perhaps my next attempt will involve some baking. Thanks to J.V. for your engineering and creative skills for helping to make this happen! In an effort to avoid the mall crowds, maintain my exercise regimen, and enjoy the sunny weather, I

Maxx-imized Shopping

Among the small load of things I hauled away from Topshop in NYC were these studded bleach-effect jeans. Upon eyeing them in the store, I had a flashback to the first time I saw them on Topshop's website. Yes, they cost more than I've spent on jeans in ages, but I knew I would not be able to find a similar pair for less or accurately recreate the look myself, as much as I'm tempted to buy some

In The Mood For The CUBE

My return to the peaceful suburbs (after going to NYC) and an evening shopping trip to Marshalls have left me feeling grateful that I can shop after 5pm without battling the crowds, traffic, and picked over piles of clothing that I encountered in many NYC stores. While NYC has some amazing shopping, there is something to be said for suburban discounters like Marshalls. If you patiently look

Shopping Matthew Williamson For H and M

Being the diehard fan of cheap chic designer collaborations that I am, I went to the H&M location at Westfield Topanga this morning to inspect the new Matthew Williamson summer collection. As I arrived at about half past ten, there were already a few women frantically gathering armloads of goods and scurrying off to the fitting rooms and cash registers. I spotted some forty-somethings trying on

Trendspotting At LF Stores In Santa Barbara

Ever since I can remember shopping along Santa Barbara's State Street, LF Stores has been at the top of my list for its trend-forward and inspiring merchandise. So when LF sent me these lookbook photos of their newest collection, I knew it was time to pay them a visit, chat with the ever-so-stylish employees, and see what they had in store this season. Rather than write out an in-depth analysis

Love Culture

My shopping trip to The Oaks Mall uncovered a new fast fashion destination that's probably got some local teen shoppers talking. Think Forever 21, but with much more polyester, compelling visual merchandising, and price points generally under $30. It's called Love Culture, and I admit I've never heard of it. The website indicates that it's under construction, and my google searches reveal limited
