Miltos is not exactly my cup of tea, still, he does a good job. That fluffy lavender dress with the sparkly bodice on the second pic was a dream.

Fluo dress by Miltos

Like it or not, this dual colour fluo taffeta gown presented in Miltos' catwalk show is larger than life. Surely it needed its own post.

Miltos is one of those shows that leave you quite puzzled.

Sure, the man can sew.

And he would make a mean costume designer for period drama in theatre and moving pictures. In fact, I bet he already does.

In his AXDW show last Saturday, October 23rd Miltos presented floor length velvet gowns, puffy taffeta skirts, top hats and 19th century elegant equestrian pants. Very chic, no doubt. But wearable in real life?

But then, I come home and start editing pics.
And it goes something like this:
Well, that grey tailcoat wouldn't look half bad with the proper contemporary styling. In fact, it looks awfully a lot like my Comme des Garçons for H&M black tailcoat. And that pencil skirt wouldn't be out of place worn at work, not to mention that the matching jacket is heavenly tailored. And don't get me started on the black silk blouse with the luxurious bow...
Can't help it.

Miltos AW2010/11 at AXDW

Versailles was the main theme for the Miltos collection.

Two young men in 18th century costume, complete with capes and frilly shirts opened the show.

Some of the clothes presented were fairly contemporary but suitable for a more mature costumer, like the skirt suit above.

Some others were more on the fresh n' girly side.

And some were totally 18th century France.

My favourite was the white ensemble above, mainly because of the simple, elegant colour and the extravagant bow on the neck.

Greek TV celebrity Eugenia Manolidou accompanied the designer Miltos down the catwalk at the end of the show, wearing a sky blue full-length gown complete with a train.

Miltos SS2010 show at AXDW

Miltos presented his SS20101 collection at AXDW last Sunday. It was a virtual time-travel to 1940's Paris and we loved it! Τhe music of Édith Piaf was masking our gasps, as we admired the luxurious coats, classic blazers, fitted pencil skirts and amazing evening dresses made with velvet, silk and feathers.

The press release reads:

Born in Athens, Miltos' first contact with fashion was as a production and sales manager in a well-known company with silk garments. His experience in raw materials together with his love for high quality resulted in starting up his own studio 17 years ago, while studying fashion at Veloudakis Fashion School. Feminine lines, all time classic elegance, fresh style with high class, would be a close description to his work. Miltos currently works at his studio in Kolonaki, where he creates pret-a-porter and haute couture collections, as well as unique bridals.

Some may argue that there's no innovation in re-introducing fashions from past decades. I say, sometimes a designer who is a master in handling quality materials and haute couture techniques and who can deliver that old-school glamour we all love, is all we need. N'est pas?
