AXDW last day

This post is to wrap up the last AXDW that took place in March, as I was too blogged-out to post all about it back then...
fashionarchitect_AXDW_front_row
So, on the last day of AXDW I only managed to watch the Romina Karamanea and Melina Pispa shows, as I had to leave early. You've probably already seen the posts about those two collections, so here the day's outfit as seen on the pic above:

Dove-grey strapless Insight dress I got back then from Reverse (the outlet store of Revolve Clothing) worn over a plain white t-shirt and black leggings for modesty and accessorized with a black patent bow belt, my Erica Anenberg two-finger bow ring bought back then, a resin Accessorize ring from back then and my beloved Luella clutch.

Wow, that's a whole lot of back links for a single post!
Well, that seems to cover it for AXDW AW2010/11...

It was exhausting, but we had an amazing time

And it wouldn't be half as fun without all of you girls!

Sense Nu AW2010/11 at AXDW

Sense Nu AW2010/11 collection was mostly black on black mixed with lots of grey tones. Various materials including leather, tulle, mesh and metal were used, adding interesting textures on the already strong geometrical shapes. I personally loved the playful circle skirts worn with frilly petticoats and stripy sheer leggings!

As you can see from the pics of Elena and me, this is the show we had to watch while sitting on the feet of Alex-Napoleon Kavdas, Dimitris Petrou and Evangelos Kavathas. Well, that's what happens when you're late for the show because you were sipping vodka-cranberries at the venue's bar!

The show finale shot by me:

Can posts go off?

[with Elena and Alkisti at AXDW]

Couple of months have already passed since the craziness that we like to call fashion week ended, and I'm ashamed to admit I still have lots of unpublished pics in my folders. The reason for this failure of punctual sharing is the very same craziness that has us on a fashion high all week, only to fade into fatigue, sleep deprivation and an overwhelming amount of work that's been lurking around the corner. The pics await unpublished until this day, edited and ready-to-go. And you see, it would be a pity not to share them with you. So, I'm asking you dear readers, are you up for a couple (or more) fashion week related posts? Promise, they're nice!

Melina Pispa at AXDW

fashionarchitect_AXDW_Melina_Pispa_04

Ok, truth is we were a bit taken aback about Melina Pispa AW2010/11. I suppose it's not only me who thinks it was all too summery for a winter collection, right? But that doesn't take anything away from the fact that I loved it and I would totally wear most of the pieces. In summer. Especially that sky blue one-piece with the leaf print on top of this post. Even though my fellow bloggers gave me that puzzled "you're kidding us, right?" look when I mentioned that. Well, at least *I'd try* to pull it off.

I almost forgot to mention that half of Melina Pispa's collection was wedding dresses, so if you're into that stuff (wedding paraphernalia is like a cult for some girls) here's the finale video where all the models are dressed in white!

UPDATE: We have feedback! According to the comment you'll see below, the show was actually Spring/Summer 2010, so that's why everything spelled summer to us. Sorted!

Romina Karamanea AW2010/11 at AXDW

fashionarchitect_AXDW_Romina_Karamanea_03
Romina Karamanea gave us an all-black collection which was anything but boring. Strong leather details that resembled body armour adorned the fluid fabric. That included chain mail with links made of leather instead of metal. Fierce yet feminine.
We liked.

See more of Romina Karamanea's collection at Chloe in the Sky and Alecca Rox.

Celebrity Skin AW2010/11 at AXDW

fashionarchitect_AXDW_AW2010_Celebrity_Skin_1
The Celebrity Skin by Dimitris Strepkos and Eleni Barla AW2010/11 show was titled Desireless Humanoid.

Then how come we were all filled with desire for what we saw? Gimme that grey gillet/shrawl thingy, I want it!

Don't worry Elena, I won't fight you for it. You'll have the black and I'll have the grey one. Deal?

I wonder what they're thinking.

Bonus just for you, a clip from the finale!

Βloggers in front row, kinda

We were a bit late for the Sense Nu show and when we got in, all the good seats (so we could take photos) where taken. Solution? We sat on the floor, in front of designers Dimitris Petrou and Evangelos Kavathas, and MTV VJ Alex. Thank you guys!

If you want a real-time taste of AXDW, I've been tweeting all the shows live from my iPhone, so tune in!

Paris fashion week resident (thank you Alecca for that info) Ioannis Guia was inspired by the Greek Orthodox Easter for his AW2010/11 collection. Many of the looks presented brought to mind Greek Orthodox clergy clothing, like cassocks, kamilavkions and epitrachils. The show's soundtrack was composed of remixed religious chants and the room smelled of incense. We overheard a lady whispering "that's a disgrace" but that was probably expected, if not provoked. Bottom line, what's a fashion show without a little provocation, right?

And don't forget to read what Life Full of Fashion, Alecca Rox, Renatsan and Chloe in the Sky posted about the Ioannis Guia show.

I loved it!
Pleats, drapes and an interesting mix of materials, it was all there in Stelios Koudounaris AW 2010/11 all-black collection. I'd love to see them up-close and feel the materials too, because my crappy photos (I'm still using my old n' humble compact camera) ain't doing them any justice.
